2014 Winners: what are they doing now? Fulvio Risuleo and Daisy Jacobs, 3rd Prize ex-aequo

While we await the announcement of the 2015 Cinéfondation Selection, the 2014 prizewinners look back at the Festival and tell us what's been happening since the excitement of Cannes.

3 questions to Fulvio RISULEO

For his movie LIEVITO MADRE

How did you live your award at the festival de Cannes 2014?

It was a great moment. I understood that the simple idea that was born in my mind at school was universal for everybody. The prize is important for me and my crew because we are a solid group and help us to be more confident for the future, and the self confidence is very important to make film in our country (Italy) where the cinema is sick and the atmosphere depressing.

What did your award at Festival de Cannes bring up for you?

After Cannes my short film traveled in many countries. It was projected in different and important festivals. Cannes Cinéfondation was the best springboard for my short film.

Have you new projects?

I decided to invest the Cinéfondation prize to make another short film, with the same crew. I think this is the best thing to do with the money. Therefore in April we will complete "Varicella" (Chickenpox), filmed in 35mm thanks to Kodak which gave us film for free.

After Cannes I've made Reportage Bizarre that is a cinema-web project made of twenty segments.

Now I'm preparing my first feature film "Look up", a sort of road movie on the rooftops of Rome.

3 questions to Daisy JACOBS

For her movie THE BIGGER PICTURE

How did you live your award at the festival de Cannes 2014?

Cannes 2014 was such a great experience. It was my first time at an international film festival and it didn't disappoint. It was fantastically well-run; in a beautiful place; I was inspired by the films I watched there; and felt very supported in my own film-making. I hope to return!

What did your award at Festival de Cannes bring up for you?

I came home to rainy England to lots of emails as a direct result of the Cannes selection and prize. My current agent saw the film there, got in touch and has supported me since. Cannes also started me off on a fantastic festival run and gave me the confidence to take my work as a film-maker seriously.

Have you new projects?

Yes! I am currently working on my second life-size film. The story is about family break-up and dispersal, and I am pushing the life-size technique much further. It is very exciting!
