Born in Vienna in 1974, Ruth Mader studied directing at the University of Music and Performing Arts of Vienna, and has worked as an assistant director and casting director. In 1999, her film Gfrasta won the German Max Ophuls Award in the short film category. Null Defizit, her next short, received an invitation to the Cannes Film Festival in 2001, where it was shown in the Official Selection, Cinéfondation. Mader's first feature film Struggle, premiered in the Un certain regard selection of the 2003 Cannes Film Festival, and has been screened at festivals worldwide including Toronto, Pusan, Telluride, Rotterdam, London, and Karlovy Vary. Serviam will be Ruth Mader's second feature film. The project has already won a national Austrian screenplay award. |
